Obituary of Stanley Steinke

Stanley Steinke, a long-time resident of Beaverlodge, Alberta passed away suddenly on Friday, May 25, 2018 in Grande Prairie at the age of 73 years.

Stanley was born, along with his brother Robert, on September 2, 1944 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Wallace and Winnifred Steinke. Stanley and Robert were the second and third children of eight. The Steinke family moved to Lymburn, Alberta to farm.

Stanley and Marlene were married on November 4, 1967 and were rarely seen apart. Their first son Tim was born in 1972 with Tyler to follow in 1974. The family lived in Wembley for six years; Marlene stayed home with the boys and Stanley worked for the County of Grande Prairie. In 1978, Stanley and Marlene bought some of the Graf farmland where they moved to farm and raise the boys closer to family.

Stanley spent 35 of his working years at the County of Grande Prairie, and everyone knew “Stan the Grader Man”. Stanley loved working for the County and knowing the goings on of his neighbors.

Stanley loved to camp, garden, and visit with just about anyone, just about anywhere. He loved to talk, and most people will remember Stanley for his joke-telling abilities. He was proud of his sons and their entrepreneurial spirit and he loved being called “Grandpa”.

Stanley was predeceased by his brother Donny Steinke, along with his parents.

Stanley will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Marlene, his sons Tim (Darci), and Tyler (Janis), and his five grandchildren: Tanner, Lydia, Cameron, Sophia and Flora.

A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 1:00 PM-4:00 PM at the Anglican Hall in Beaverlodge. Interment will be held at a later date.
