Obituary of Molly Caroline Mumert
Molly Mumert, long time resident of Valhalla Centre, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021 with her family by her side at the age of 84 years.
She was born to the late Oscar and Ingeborg Johnson on April 18, 1936 in Grande Prairie, AB. At the age of 4 she told her mother that she was going to be a nurse, and nothing ever swayed her from that vocation. She graduated from Calgary’s Holy Cross School of Nursing in 1957.
She was married to Charles Mumert in 1957, and they lived on their farm north of Hythe for 50 years. Molly is survived by her husband Charles and their five children: Judith (Paul) Sterkenburg, Stephen (Cindy) Mumert, Brian Mumert, Elizabeth (Phil) Randall and Donna Mumert (Loren). She is also survived by her sister Emily Loberg, 15 grandchildren and 19 8/9 great-grandchildren. Molly was predeceased by her mother and father, Ingeborg and Oscar Johnson, and her step-father, Oscar Jerstad, and her sister Isabel Christensen.
She served the community as the Director of Nursing at the Hythe Hospital for many years, and after taking several years off to help Charlie start his business, she returned to nursing and finished her career as the Director of the Hythe Continuing Care Centre.
Molly loved the Lord; she loved and valued her family and had an interest in and love for people. She loved to sing and had learned to play guitar as a young teenager so she was able to accompany and sing with her children. Years of enjoying their informal family choir encouraged the whole family to love music just as much as she did.
Viewing will be held at the Beaverlodge Funeral Service from 1-4:30 pm on Monday April 5, 2021. This is open to all her friends, neighbours, and members of the community who would like to say goodbye to her in person. All COVID regulations will be in effect. Due to COVID restrictions, the funeral and interment are limited to immediate family. The funeral will be live-streamed on Tuesday April 6, 2021 at 2 pm, for any who would like to attend virtually. It will be available at https://www.facebook.com/valhallalutheranchurch/live and at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxrOipPnvtisQmXms_enDZg/videos

PRE-PLANNING
Many people plan for life events such as weddings and vacations well in advance, but many people do not plan for something that is certain to happen, their funeral. While most people do not want to think about their own mortality, the time to pre-plan your funeral is now.
